Focus

I get asked a fair amount how I’m able to maintain a full time job, a couple of freelance projects, and a family/personal life. I’m a self diagnosed workaholic but with the right amount of balance you can live a very wholesome life.

Planning Makes Perfect

I spend a lot of time before and during a project planning out next steps. This allows me to do a lot of execution without having to do a lot of thinking. I will typically break work down into smaller tasks using my project management tool of choice, Freedcamp. From there I can go right down the list knocking one task out at a time.

Limit Distractions

It’s amazing how much you can get done when you sit down and just do it. I try to limit daytime distractions such as social media, Reddit, etc. Procrastination isn’t a kind beast so I try to keep things moving forward. It also never hurts to get up and go outside for a little bit to clear the mind.

Work hard, play hard

I work pretty long hours during the week when I have a freelance project going. That’s why when the weekend rolls around you will rarely find me at a computer. I try to take my weekends and spend as much time as I can with friends and family. This is the best way to recharge your batteries after a long week.
